January 2014

  ●January 18(Sat.) through January 25(Sat.)
  Yohei Yasuki solo exhibition
The abstract pictures contain varied soft-coloured squares with rounded corners, which sometimes are getting together and sometimes floating apart. Mr. Yasuki says, however, "The motifs feature figures, mainly".
He doesn't seem to watch the bodily shape. He might watch the scene where the figure is around, or the atmosphere that surrounds the figure. Something like someone's appearance, feelings, spirits, an air can be flowing into the surroundings and create a new form. "I like to portray a kind of living scenes and forms that continue flowing into the restricted squares," he says. Every of his works has a calm and gentle but vivid feel.
Now on view, a wide variety of abstract works, which are originally painted and have the essence of his own. This is a good chance to encounter them.
