  Koki Ohara pottery exhibition      
  On the moist ash-glazed surface, Mr. Ohara's container has a motif of flowers drawn with flowing scratched lines just like a few deft strokes of the brush. It gives you a graceful and elegant impression, which sure reflects the way for him to communicate with nature. With his ceramic ware dishes to adorn the table, even an everyday meal has a luxurious feel.
Accepted as one of the selected potters at the Japan Traditional Art Craft Exhibition, he has a lot of fans, who admire his richly expressive works. For his 4th exhibition here at ACCa, he's been actively engaged in making new pieces based on his motto "Going right back to the beginning, show my individuality more freely". Let’s enjoy his new exciting world, where a large variety of works are originally designed and have the essence of his own, including a ceramic plate that creates a collage of memory.   Chinatsu Nomura printing exhibition      
  What attracts you first is bold simple composition and fresh colours. Here, a loose fluid line is cutting off the picture seemingly at random it could be humorous. Together with a warm and friendly impression that the woodcut print always gives you, kind of something cool and sexy can also be imagined. Every of Ms. Nomura's prints is absolutely brilliant.
She says, "When flowers are nearly out, I'm getting excited. I'm pleased to observe how nuts or seeds are growing ripe. I'm thrilled to see their pretty little shapes having a lot of mysterious functions. For me, prints could express those feelings of joy. I'd like to create lovely functional pieces". She remains actively engaged in finding something new and surprises to make artworks.

  Miwa Yamazaki pottery exhibition      
  During the process of crafting, Ms. Yamazaki spends pretty much time sitting down in front of the potter's wheel. Every of her works created in this way has a graceful and elegant form it's unbelievable. She says, "I'd like to shape an unstrained natural line. So I always feel clay directly with my hands. The greatest care and attention is essential". She's well aware of the tips of shaping clay to achieve the desired effect.
Then a rich deep red is coloured with shinsya glaze, or flowing lines are inlaid on the surface. Each piece becomes richly expressive and presents a different impression depending on its own personality.
She says, "Making ceramics, I meet a lot of people. I connect with them. I feel sympathy with them. That's what I enjoy the most".

  Ai Sano wood work exhibition      
  Every of Ms. Sano Ai's wood works gives a little chuckle. Even an empty container looks like it is filled with something gentle and warm. Look at these two pieces in the photo entitled "a sugar hut" and "a sweet hut" respectively. Open their roofs and you'll find happy sweet stuffs in them.
She says, "I'd like to make amusing things but not too much, which will allow you to form a picture in your mind about what they could be like". Drawings or patterns with the wood burning pen are not busy and kept to a minimum. That is the beauty of what she does. Her wares created in this way are full of individuality and have the essence of her own.
She says, "The exhibition period includes 3.11. That makes me nervous". But a large variety of works which are originally designed will sure make you feel at home and enrich your mind. Plates, cutlery etc as well as brooches and pendants are on display. This is a good chance to encounter them.

  Miki Tago glass work exhibition      
  Ms.Tago's colours or tints always have a pleasant surprise. Gentle lines, dots or faces create unexpected combination of colours. Red and orange, purple and pale blue, green and red etc exist together lovely in the warm and soft light. They give a bold but relieved impression.
She says, "Vivid coloured glassware is my distinguishing mark. I'd be so much happy if it could make your dining table have a pleasant cheerful feel. Last year I couldn't help but stopping making, but that might have allowed me to brush up my skills".
Every of her works presents an attractive impression both for decoration and for everyday use. It surely makes you feel a sense of joyfulness in your heart.

  Toshihiro Sue pottery exhibition      
  Mr. Toshihiro Sue says, "I've been crafting something casual and comfortable, simple and calm". His white ceramics are just exactly simple as well as sophisticated and chic. Style is kept to a minimum but not too cool. Their graceful and elegant shapes are so good for your everyday use as well.
Suffered in Fukushima at 3.11, he's now in Seto, the mid-western part of Japan. He says, "I'm so happy to be engaged in crafting, and I realized there's nothing better than glimpses of the joy of our ordinary daily life and affection to others". Every of his works sure reflects his attentiveness like that.
Now on view, a large variety of pottery works which are originally designed and have the essence of his own. This is a good chance to encounter them. You'll have to find a particular favorite for your everyday use.

  Yasuko Onoda pottery exhibition      
  In the photo, these lovely bottles are called furidashi. Ms. Onoda says, "Now the season is good for nodate, where you could use them". Furidashi features in the tea ceremony. The tea ceremony held outside is called nodate. But even in your daily life you must be so happy if traditional Japanese small confections such as konpeito or arare would unexpectedly come out of these furidashi. The motif that vividly embodies a touch of nature is sure to make you feel much happier.
She says, "What's attracted me most is the depth of expressing some things by decorating with just one colour. There are still more fantastic techniques or motifs that I'd like to challenge".

  Iccho Matsuo glass work exhibition      
  Here at ACCa, this is the 3rd time of Iccho Matsuo glass work exhibition, where you can find a popular series of caskets entitled "something to collect lights". Each one is palm-sized and looks delicate, but it's really heavy when you put it in your palm.
As you grind away the outer layer of frosted glass, the inner layer of colourful rays and particles suddenly appears and creates its own personality. Then the casket will fill up with highly expressive soft different lights. That's the unique world of Mr. Matsuo.
Now on view, a large variety of glass works which are originally designed and have the essence of his own. As well as caskets, items good for everyday use such as dishes and chopstick rests are included. Let's enjoy his glass works that are soft-coloured and pleasant to touch. This is a good chance to encounter them.

  Hitoshi Kato pottery exhibition      
  Let's take a look at the photo: a pile of several concentric plates of different radii. Mr. Kato's magnificent Shinogi patterns make them perfectly fit each other. This is what he is about as well; exactly like his attitude toward his works and consistency of his words, obviously based on his much improved craftsmanship.
He always takes the trouble to dig up clay for pottery by hand in the mountain. Then his earthenware, having a simple feel, sure transmits the warmth of its contents, which is good for your everyday use. Each piece gives a soft impression with Kohiki-white and unassuming earth taste, adding a dignified charm that reflects his trait of tenaciousness.
Now on view, a large variety of works right for both Western and Japanese meals, which are originally designed and have the essence of his own. This is a good chance to encounter them. You could enjoy collecting piece by piece.

  Yoko Akino glass work exhibition      
  Ms. Akino says, "I'm so much in love with glassblowing, a technique to form glassware by gathering molten glass on to the blowpipe". During the process of blowing, there is a subtle change in the composition of glass, where a coherent blob of the molten glass happens to stop inflating in a moment to create a soft and smooth form. It conveys a refreshing sense of coolness.
A series of her lace-patterned objects gives a nostalgic impression. In the clear glass, white lines are dancing in the breeze. The other one is a foil series, and a round shape with foil, which looks like the moon in the daytime, is floating in the glass. It has a mysterious feeling as well.
She says, "Dishing up is a device to enjoy a delicious luxurious meal". Every of her works perfectly fits at the dining table or in your hand.
Now on view, a larger variety of glass works than the previous time, which are originally designed and have the essence of her own. You have to pick up each of them.

  2012 Accessory -Summer collection
 -Fun, Fun, Fun, with Light and Wind
     
  Here in ACCa, this is the first time to show you a dazzling display of accessories created by 9 artists using glass, metal, and lacquer (known as urushi in Japanese).
The facets of the glass look like they are cutting out from summer sunlight. The metal carries a cool and fresh breeze to you. Urushi is the flower glittering in the moonlight. Every piece sure makes you feel lovely summer light and a gentle wind.
Pendants, brooches, earrings etc, every of their works has unique and full of expression. Summer could be much more fun if you wear it.

  Misaki Urushiyama glass work exhibition      
  In this picture, we can see one of Ms. Urushiyama's new series of glass works featuring the amazing variety of hues created by her. She calls them "kage-iro" (shadow colours). Those subtle and chic colour gradations are quite Japanese, so you could call them by the traditional Japanese colours such as futa-ai (indigo), toki-iro (pink), hisui-iro (jade green). The bird, tree, wind designs feature in the colouration between light and shade, and look like they are having so much fun.
She says, "I found it difficult to put my feelings into words. So I keep on making things by hand. To try to remember what makes me happy or sad".
Let’s enjoy her new world including this "kage-iro" series and two other familiar ones. Those are glassblowing series called "watane" (a tale of a feathered seed) and silhouette series called "machi" (a town)

  Haruhiko Iwasaki pottery exhibition      
  Every of Mr. Iwasaki's works, which is simple and casual, always catches your eyes. It doesn't look showy, but its calm relaxed appearance is something new to you.
He says, "I'd like to keep crafting to make something simple and casual. It's not for your special occasions, but good for your daily use".
The shape of his ceramics featuring kohiki, tetsuyuu, kaiyuu etc is stylish and modern. You can imagine enjoying your dishes served with them. You'll have to find your particular favorite. It'll sure make frequent appearances on the dining table.

  Harumi Kimura illustration exhibition      
  Ms. Kimura has been an active illustrator in a wide variety of publications such as books, magazines, picture books etc. So you might have seen some pieces of her illustration before. Let's look at this picture. Some free and easy curved lines make a roly-poly person, a plant growing taller and taller. His charming big eye looks like he's really looking forward to something. The bright brown colours seem to add some nostalgia. It's great fun.
She says, "When viewed from space, we are just tiny little creatures. But I think you could be a tiny little pearl if you spend the rest of your life honestly and laughing, which makes other people feel so happy. I'm going to believe our honesty and tenaciousness". Why not enjoy her attractive welcoming world? It'll sure make you feel relaxed and cheerful.

  Yoko Shoji textile exhibition      
  Here at ACCa, this is the 1st time of a textile artist Ms. Yoko Shoji exhibition. "I love spinning thread, dyeing, weaving, everything to do at textiles", she says. To make threads, she grows cotton, goes sees sheep. To dye the threads, she tries any plants around her. And weaving of all things takes the most important part. She's interested in weaving small but happy stories in everyday life together.
The cloth designed with different colours and textures looks like it's making soft and pleasant music. Actually some of her textiles are woven following the music. Each sound of the music is replaced by the colour she's imagined. That sounds great fun. As winter is just around the corner, all the crafts including mufflers, bags etc on show make you feel lovely and warm.

  Hideki Yamashita pottery exhibition      
  Here at ACCa, this is the 2nd time of Mr. Hideki Yamashita's pottery exhibition. Every of his works has its own simple straight lines and is quite easy to use. They are getting more and more popular.
Let's look at this photo of his challenging series, "Ginka-Temmoku" or an uneven silvery finish. It gives off the mysterious glow of oxidized silver. It’s a winning combination, a mixture of black, silver, blue that work successfully together. He says, "It's the result of a unique firing technique to oxidize iron glaze. Every piece has its own personality depending on firing. It's fun".
These really cool ware dishes will have to be one of your particular favorites especially for the winter dining table.
And also you can enjoy another series which consists of a pot and pans, together with elegant sake containers and vases.

  Eiko Uchikoba copperplate print exhibition       
  Here at ACCa, this is the 1st time of Ms. Eiko Uchikoba copperplate print exhibition. She is an emerging talent and is also familiar with picture books and poems. She says, "A little imagination in your ordinary life or some particles of your memory. I'd like to care about and create something that really doesn't exist or happen, but that makes you feel quite nostalgic. It’s such a poetic world or some pieces of classical music."
She examines fleeting and happy moments in everyday life and softly put them into the bottle, because she always wants to remember them. When you're a bit tired and look out of the window, you could enjoy the scenery very different from the usual. You might or might not see it in the past, but it surely makes you feel at home. With minimal, high-precision colours and lines, every of her works conveys a fantasy world of its own. This is a good chance to enjoy the opportunity to use your imagination and to encounter the one that attracts you.

  Aki Takemoto glass work exhibition       
  The distinguishing mark of Ms. Takemoto's glass works is a series of "Tsudure-ori", Japanese for one of the traditional finely-woven techniques. Colorful layered glass fragments harmonized in the transparent space, which look like the beauty of abstract paintings, always attract all of us. She fits together small pieces of colored glass like a mosaic and fires them. In addition, she has produced a beautifully detailed great work recently.
This 4th time exhibition held here in ACCa, also features some new expressive things. She says, "I've challenged to create things having a twinkling happy feeling in December or having a quite simple rhythmic outline contrary to my mosaic series".
